Ilocano Vegetable, Sabadiokong

the fruit of sabadiokong
Let's say 'saluyot' and I presumed many of you know this very Ilocano vegetable leaves.
How about 'sabadioking' or 'sabadokong' to others, any thing comes to your mind.

Sabadiokong is very own of Ilocano vegetable. Not in other regions and I doubt with other countries
This is actually a mountain fruit of a vine which commonly grow and bear flowers and fruits during summer time, usually from April to June of the year.

Its like an star apple fruit but just longer, and its not a fruit but a vegetable. And mostly it has only four sides compared to star apple fruit. The color is green and has a soft sides.

Cooking this vegetable is very easy. Just boil water adding salt and some seasoning and then put the sabadiokong for 3 minutes.

Other menu is to just grill the fruit until fully cook.

But the cooked sabadiokong is nothing without the best partner of it... the dip. The dip could be a fish sauce with lemon or calamansi extract. It can also be vinegar with salt and lots of onions, or any dip sauce that you want to use for sabadioking.

But of course, Ilocano foods are much appreciated by Ilocano.###
